Gall bladder diets

In most of the cases, gall bladder disease is a consequence of an inappropriate diet. Most of the many patients that suffer of this disease have overweight problems. The main cause for this condition called gall bladder disease is believed to be the consumption of fat-rich foods. Also likely to develop this condition are women, people that have passed 50, persons with gastrointestinal disorders, people with diabetes or people with high levels of blood cholesterol. A proper diet can lead to the easing of the symptoms and can also prevent complications that may occur in gall bladder disease sufferers.

We know that a good diet can help but we should also know that an inappropriate diet leads to the formation of gallstones that block the bile ducts and prevent the normal activity of the gall bladder. We should also know that the gall bladder’s role is to assist the liver in the digestion of fat. This organ stores the bile produced by the liver and uses it in the process of digestion. As we said before, an impropriate diet leads to gallstones. These occur when cholesterol, calcium and bile salts accumulate inside the gall bladder. Gallstones cause inflammation, swelling and pain and might, in some cases, lead to a bacterial infection. It is well known that gallstones can lead to serious complications and sometimes require surgery. The conditions that are caused by gallstones are cholecytitis, choledocholithiasis, cholangitis and pancreatitis.

It was noticed that even if diets are useful they can not lead to the elimination of large gallstones but it can easily eliminate the small gallstones. Diet also helps in preventing the formation of new gallstones in the gall bladder or bile ducts. The symptoms such as pain attacks, nausea, vomiting and abdominal bloating can be ameliorated if the fat intake is reduced.

The mentioned gall bladder diet should not contain foods that are rich in saturated fat, such as meats and diary products. Soy is indicated to replace these foods. Also to replace are fast food meals. It is recommended to eat a smaller amount of food at a single meal and to have 4 or 5 meals a day, without eating late.

Certain foods are believed to be allergenic to most of the people with gall bladder disease. That is why it is recommended to avoid eggs, cheese, high-fat milk, citrus fruits, coffee, chocolate or carbonated soda.

It is recommended a diet that contains fiber, vegetables and fruits, cereals, wheat products, rice or potatoes. You should also drink plenty of fluids.
