Vibradermabrasion – the Latest in Lunch-Time Dry Skin Care

Vibradermabrasion is the newest 'lunch-time cosmetic procedure'. A vibrating pad is run over your face - and neck and hands if you wish - for about 10 minutes. It removes dead skin cells, massages the skin, stimulates circulation, and stimulates collagen production. The result is a blushed, polished look. It does makes your skin a little more vulnerable, so it's important to use a shielding lotion afterwards to protect it from the elements and lock in moisture. Thousands of doctors are now recommending a shielding lotion as a vital part of any dry skin care treatment.

Practitioners offering vibradermabrasion usually recommend five treatments, and the total cost ranges from $500 to $2000.

Exfoliation and massage are great dry skin care, but if you would prefer to enjoy your lunch at lunchtime, or would like to save the $500 to $2000, there are at-home alternatives to vibradermabrasion.

One of the best at-home exfoliators is a sponge. Some, such as loofahs, are quite coarse and too abrasive for facial skin. However, there are several sponges available for the face and other areas where the skin is more sensitive.

1. Dampen the sponge with lukewarm water and gently rub your face and neck with quick side-to-side motions for about 10 minutes. Then rinse to remove any debris.

2. If you're using a nourishing masque or toner, apply it directly afterwards. The exfoliated surface facilitates absorption. Several natural masques and toners can be found in your kitchen - raw egg, mashed avocado or tomato juice are just a few that are helpful in dry skin care. They work great, and don't contain harmful chemical ingredients. Rinse the masque or toner off after 10 or 15 minutes.

3. Apply the shielding lotion.

Exfoliating and toning with a masque once or twice a week will keep the dead skin cells from building up and keep the skin nourished, but the shielding lotion should be used every day. A good shielding lotion bonds with the outer layer of the skin, forming a protective barrier that keeps out environmental toxins and pollutants and seals in moisture.

Adding exfoliating, toning masques and shielding lotion to your basic skin care routine will give you healthy, glowing skin, and with the money you save you can buy several very nice lunches.
